The Parish recorded an I&E surplus of €40,201 for the year ended 31st December 2022 compared to a surplus in 2021 of €109,565 a reduction of €69,364. 2021 was an exceptional year when we were still impacted by the covid restrictions and we received the benefit of the Government wage support schemes and reduced PRSI which were not available in 2022. The final donations totalling €10,000 for the stained glass windows were also received in 2021.
In 2022 the Parish income reduced by €17,761 (-6%) while expenditure increased by €41,603 (+23%). The main income and expenditure changes are set out below:
Income
€16,071 – reduction in Family Offering, fall off in parishioner’s envelope donations
€29,178 –Covid Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) received in 2021.
€ 8,024 – increase in donations, bequests & stole fees
€ 9,824 – receipt of Covid insurance proceeds –at Diocesan level
€ 7,455- increase in tax relief received from Revenue on parishioner donations
Expenditure
€16,860 – increase in altar & church running cost including choir expenses
€16,535 – increase in staff costs. In 2021 there was once off benefit of reduced PRSI rate of 11.05% to 0.5% for 8 months and a PRSI refund of €3.7k
€11,964 – substantial increase in heat and light costs due to energy inflation
