Description of RCIA Ministry Activity

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a sacred and transformative journey within the Catholic Church. The RCIA team accompany adults on their journey towards Initiation into the Catholic Church and support them after they have received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist as they grow in Christian discipleship.

RCIA consists of stages like inquiry, catechumenate, and the Rite of Election, each holding a unique significance in the individual’s spiritual growth. The final culmination at Easter Vigil marks the moment when they receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, officially joining the Catholic community. RCIA embodies a profound transition, fostering faith, knowledge, and community as individuals embark on a new chapter in their spiritual lives.

In the last few years the team have accompanied three people in this parish.

The team welcome and introduce the candidate to the parish, they share their own faith, reflect on the Word of God, especially as found in the Sunday gospel through prayer and discussion.

Time Commitment

The team and candidates meet each Sunday during the period of initiation and thereafter monthly as the newly baptised grow in faith and community.
