Description of Ministers of the Word Activity

Ministers of the Word, play an important part in the liturgical celebrations of the parish. As lay people we proclaim the Word of God at all the Masses and para liturgies during the year. The role requires an appreciation of the liturgy, a familiarity with scripture and an ability to communicate effectively in public.

Time Commitment

Once the reader/lector is commissioned they are placed on a rota for the Mass at the weekend they are available for. There are six teams covering the weekend Masses and one team for the weekday. Each team has their own coordinator.

Training

Education and training for the ministry is provided in the parish and further workshops locally and diocesan are offered for the support the Minister during the year.
