Join the Ministers of the Eucharist Team:
Serving as a Minister of the Eucharist can be a way to deepen one’s own faith and relationship with God.”
Description of Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist Activity
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist play an important part in the liturgical celebrations of our parish. As lay people we distribute Holy Communion at Mass with the priest. We also assist at various special liturgies during the year. Some of our ministers bring Holy Communion on Sunday to those who are housebound or sick. This ministry is a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian Community for those who are ill and cannot attend Mass. Ministers are sent forth from the Sunday Mass with the prayers and good wishes of our parish to those receiving at home.
Training
Initial training is conducted over two evenings of approximately two hours per session, followed by a Commissioning Ceremony at one of the Sunday Masses. During the year diocesan and local workshops are offered for ministers to grow in their ministry and their faith.
Time Commitment
Once commissioned these ministers are placed on a rota serving the weekend Masses and are invited to serve at special liturgies when needed. Ministers who are available during the weekdays also serve on the weekday rota.
