Christmas frolics & festive HIGH notes 2018
WHAT A FESTIVE SEASON IT WAS!!!!
It was a busy few weeks for the Gospel Choir in the run up to Christmas Day 9.30am Mass. If you want to be part of the fun in 2019, then join us on Monday nights in the Parish Centre at 8pm and make some musical memories!
ST ENDA’S CHRISTMAS FAIR – Nov 25th
Saturday afternoon saw the choir performing at the annual St. Enda’s Christmas Fair in the lovely setting of St Enda’s Park Courtyard. A great afternoon was had by all, with some delicious Damson liqueur, piping hot coffee and raspberry scones to warm us up afterwards.
LORETO GRANGE ROAD CHRISTMAS FAIR – November 26th
The next day we donned our Santa hats and Christmas jumpers once more to sing at the annual Christmas Fair at our local Loreto Primary School.
Sr. Maria even made a guest appearance with us for a few numbers.
CLASSICAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT WITH THE DUBLIN ORCHESTRAL PLAYERS – December 2nd
What an exciting afternoon we had in the Church of the Good Shepherd Churchtown on December 2nd… getting to do our first big public concert and sing with a 55-piece orchestra. We performed an a 25 minute a capella set and then led the audience in some rousing carols with the orchestra to round off the afternoon. What a buzz!
KILLAKEE CHRISTMAS TREE FARM – December 8th
We took to the hills on the Feast of the Annunciation to provide some festive atmosphere for our friends up at Killakee Tree Farm and to raise money for the Special Olympics. Undeterred by the ‘rude wind’s wild lament’ [name that Christmas carol!] and lashing rain, we serenaded tree-pickers with a wide selection of carols and Christmas favourites, raising a nice few bob for our chosen charity and getting our own Christmas trees! A welcome mulled wine (hot choc for the designated drivers) rounded off, a great afternoon’s work!
CAROL SERVICE – Sunday 16th December
What a wonderful night we had at the annual Carol Service. We are blessed with musical talent in this parish from the Concert band to the Folk Group, Adult Choir and Primary School Choirs (Loreto girls & St Mary’s boys), and it was great to be able to join our fellow music ministries for such a special night. Getting to sing with the Loreto Primary School choir was a particular highlight for us as so many of our members have girls in the choir… It was the first time mums and daughters got to perform together.
